Denver Art Museum Expansion -
Golden Triangle

Start: 2002 End: 2004 |
In
1999, the citizens of the city and county of Denver
voted in support of a $62.5 million bond initiative
to expand the Denver Art Museum. The 146,000 square
foot addition, designed by world-renowned architect
Daniel Libeskind (among his projects, the Jewish
Museum in Berlin and the Felix Nussbaum Haus in
Osnabruck, Germany), will bring the entire museum
complex to a total of more than 350,000 square feet.
If we attempted to put this design into words, we
couldn't. The fact of the matter is that this a
Daniel Libeskind design, and Denver hasn't seen
anything like this before. This building will usher
in a whole new era of architecture for Denver; let's
just hope that this era of innovation is here to
stay. |
