One of Denver’s first streetcar suburbs, Englewood began to grow in the first half of the 20th Century and can be considered something of a sister city to Littleton, which is just to the south. Replacing the old Cinderella City mall in Englewood is a new urbanist downtown clustered around a RTD Southwest Corridor Light Rail station. UC has mixed feelings about the City Center. On one hand it retains an awfully suburban, auto-centric character for a supposed urban center, but on the other hand it introduced the concept of TOD to the region. For that reason Englewood is worth a look.
