Fort Collins is the major hub city of Northern Colorado and home to Colorado State University. It’s an interesting compromise between a conservative small town and a liberal, high tech college town. Downtown is active, interesting and fairly diverse, if a little on the small side next to comparable cities like Boulder.

The future looks bright for Fort Collins. Growth management has kept it from sprawling as badly as Colorado Springs, while fewer exclusionary restrictions have protected it from the counter-productivity of Boulder. If it grows responsibly UC doesn’t think it’s too preposterous a suggestion to propose that one day Fort Collins could overtake The Springs as Colorado’s second city.
