Greeley is unique among the larger Front Range cities in that it’s nowhere near the foot of the mountains. Instead it’s more of a hub for the agricultural and ranching community, as well as home to the University of Northern Colorado. Unfortunately it hasn't reaped much benefit from the Colorado tech boom and is growing at approximately half the rate of Fort Collins, Denver and Colorado Springs.
Physically Greeley resembles a somewhat declining rust-belt city. Its downtown is less active than comparably sized cities and doesn't share the entertaining atmosphere of mountain towns. There is hope, however, as growth from surrounding regions is beginning to spill over into Weld County and Greeley proper. It's only a matter of time before this city can compare favorably with its competitors.
